Destination Wedding: Key West, Florida

Welcome!  I have created this planning bio as a resource for all things wedding related.  We are getting married in Key West on February 25, 2011 and can't wait to dive into the next chapter of our life together.

Sunset Ceremony on Ft. Zach Taylor beach in downtown Key West

Ft. Zachary Taylor is a historic landmark and state park.  You actually have to pay an entrance fee to walk onto the beach.  We will pay for all of our guests upfront so that they don't have to pay at the gate.  If it is raining on our wedding day, our back-up plan is to get married in the fort on the beach.  Not a bad plan B if you ask me!

Reception at The Rooftop Garden at Kellys Carribbean Restaurant

Originally we were hoping to get married at a resort on Key West where guests could stay at the hotel and all wedding-related activities would take place right there.  We met with Sheila, the WC at Kellys, and just loved her and the venue.  We will have the entire 2nd floor to ourselves, which includes a small entryway to be used for the guest sign-in, an indoor dining area w/ bar and an open air rooftop garden.  It's absolutely beautiful and very representative of the Key West flavor.

Here's a website with lots of photo galleries for Kellys as well as the beach ceremony locations:
